When properly torqued and cinched down, this rack and its connections to the flush-mounted side rails of my Palisade seem to be as sturdy as typical name-brand rack manufacturer systems. I held the hitch up with my hand to get the first bolt threaded and kept the remainder up by letting it rest on my bent knee -- worked fine. This model fully justified its price. With these pads the cloud barely fits on its largest setting, but is comfortable at that setting. So I guess 1 star is for the fact that they are cute even if unwearable!
