Rubber gripping holds them in place. I paid less than $40 for the headset with USB and volume controls plus the zipper pouch. Just not quite enough bass to make me happy. My only complaints are that the SQ can be a little grainy at times which I thought could be addressed by the EQ (via app while USB connected to phone, or on the device whilst USB connected to pc/mac) BUT THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE. There is tons of grip. I took them to Europe and walked everywhere over every kind of wet or dry ground/cobbles/stone for three weeks.
